Mennonite Economic Development Associates

MEDA Tanzania is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation locally registered in Tanzania since 1986. MEDA Tanzania is part of a global NGO called Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) headquartered in Waterloo, Canada.

MEDA Tanzania has been responsible for the logistical coordination of the Tanzania National Voucher Scheme Programme (TNVS) and for ensuring availability, accessibility and affordability of vouchers and ITNs/ LLINs across the country since 2004. MEDA Tanzania has a Regional Manager in each region who monitors voucher activity at health clinics and retail shops, works closely with bed net distributors to recruit and register additional shops into the programme, and shares information on the unfolding of TNVS with stakeholders. To accomplish this, MEDA works closely with all program stakeholders, including local government officials, the Long Lasting Insecticide Treated Nets (LLINs) manufacturer, local organizations, clinic staff and the private sector. MEDA is also responsible for managing the voucher redemption and payment system and minimising any misuse and fraud.

MEDA Tanzania was the Under-five Catch Up campaign Logistics Contractor as well as the Universal Coverage Campaign. In this role, MEDA Tanzania works closely with local government officials to organise the registration of beneficiaries and institutional sleeping spaces, create registration reports and LLIN orders, monitor distribution of LLINs to villages, oversee the LLIN issuing activities, and report campaign results.
